On the lighter side

I just had a post all done.  It would not save or publish.  I wonder if that is a sign that it was not supposed to be for public consumption.  Anyway, after several days away, I have lots of ammuntion to post.  I've been going through picture files (again).  This time I am looking for pictures for a memorial service.  That is NOT a pleasant REASON to be browsing old pictures, but still not a terrible way to spend a few hours either at least when compared to this...

Pictures.....oh, the memories!!  They are so good and so helpful at a time like this.  Here are some just for fun.  No reason, just good memories.

There, now I feel better........don't you?

GOOD NIGHT ALL

Good-bye Friend

We lost not only a friend on Saturday, but a husband, dad, grandpa, cheerleader and mentor.  Harold, you will be missed.

We love you.

1929 - 2009

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

I was digging back through some old files today. I am always amazed at how quickly time seems to fly when looking backward when compared to the view in front of us.  The to do lists and errands and noise and laundry and mess often get me focused on the "busyness" of the day and I lose sight of the things that really count which are the people I am doing it all for.  They really don't care if the laundry is folded or the floor is swept.  They want me to stop and look them in the eye when they talk and really listen to what they are saying.

This is why I enjoy pictures.  I don't see the "to do's".  I see the faces.  Anyway, sorry for getting sappy, sometimes I just need to remind myself that the little stuff really doesn't matter, just the little people.

I see SO MUCH similarity between these two guys.  Personality and looks!!

But then again, I can kind of see a resemblance between these two faces as well.

Sooner that I can imagine, it will be this time of year again.

Here are the 2008 costume picks........

We are working on 2009 costumes.....The older two are still deciding.  The younger two might look something like this.....

We've got a month yet. I think I'll put it on my "to do" list!

WE LOVE YOU GRANDPA

More crazy outfits

Uncle Sam paid us a visit last week.  Apparently he paid the ice cream man for a very tiny ice cream treat.

He had a nice visit with the Statue of Liberty......

Do you notice anything unusual about Uncle Sam???

Nope, it's not his way cool shades.........

Nah, it isn't his cool boots either................

it would appear that Uncle Sam left an important part of his wardrobe at home this morning..........

Oh dear, now this is awkward, isn't it?

++++++++++++++++++++++++

John got his new uniform for scouting this past week.  He is very proud of it.

In fact, he is worse than a man taking medicine patiently inquiring daily as to when I am going to sew on his patches.  Is there a scouting badge for learning how to sew on scouting badges?????

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The neighbor lady brough over some cupcakes left from her daughter's second birthday.  Our family takes their cupcake eating very seriously.

Gee, I wonder where they learned to do this???

Oh yeah, NOW I remember!!!!!!!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++

One last picture just because I liked it so much.................

Bye for NOW!!!

Tiny Toads and Fancy Flowers

The kids caught this in the yard Monday evening....

He's tiny isn't he???

Of course the frog went to school with Grace Tuesday....

Grace let him go Tuesday evening.  We convinced her that he missed his frog family and needed to go find them.  Hey, I wouldn't consider it a LIE exactly.  He did have a family somewhere.

Oh yeah, Grace named the frog Grace.  Of Course!!

Good-bye "Grace the Frog".

Look what my favorite husband brought me Monday evening!

I think he liked the peach pie I made for Karen!  He is so good sometimes!

All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go

You know, I am aware that I give unequal time to my four kids on here.  The problem?  My two older, wiser kids just don't do the goofy stuff that the younger crowd does.  My solution?  Post pictures anyway.

John and Emily have friends and reputations to consider.  They would KILL me if I took pictures of some of the things they do, let alone post said pictures for public viewing.  That said, I am going to (guilt free) post a few pictures of some of the wacky things Grace and Grant have been up to lately.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This happens to be "MOM" serving her baby a piece of "pizza".  Notice the pizza is actually a pillow from her bed.  Apparently there is a lack of pretend food in our house.  we had to use a pillow.  The baby seemed to like the "pizza". At least I never heard it complain.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

No real explanation for this one.  Grace just asked me to look at what she could do.  I'm guessing it has to do with her Dr. Seuss book "one fish, two fish".  I know there is a page in there about a guy with one sock or maybe it's from "Ten Apples up on Top" where the dog can hop on one foot while doing other stuff too.........anyway, I think we'll lay off the Dr. Seuss for a while.

Nope, no idea on this one either.......

She can roll her tongue now, so I guess that means I have to claim her as ours, huh?  No denying the genetic link now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grace helped me make some peach and apple pies this weekend.
 One was for the nice lady who watched the crew while we sat in the ER with Grace.  The pie never made it to Karen's house.  My husband refused to share his peach pie decided it was better to let me do a practice pie first.  He graciously volunteered to eat the practice pie and let me know how good or bad it was.  We'll make another one for Karen this week.  Then maybe we'll hide it from Daddy until we get it out the door.
