The Littlest Lumberjack

We've been busy.

Saturday we took a trip to the Christmas tree farm to select a tree for the kids.

Here we are perusing the options.

Final selection....

Here is our official tree cutter this year.
This is Grant, not to be confused with John who stopped wearing under things with pictures of gorillas on it a couple years ago.

John had to lend a helping hand though.
Grant wore out before he could finish.

Grant still had enough energy to show me his reindeer impersonation.

And off we went with our newly cut tree.

It is now standing in our front window decorated and ready for the season.

Saturday evening was our company Christmas party.
We held it at a new location this year.
Everyone had a fun time playing pool and ping pong and visiting.

Today was spent decorating the new Christmas tree and baking more than a dozen batches of cookies that I had mixed up Friday.
The house smells of cookies and evergreen.

It's beginning to look a lot (more) like Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Hello Old Friend

Friday after school we made our annual trek to the mall.

The first order of business was to visit the jolly man himself.
There he was in all of his red velveted splendor waiting to greet our kids.

I think this is the first year Grant has eagerly climbed onto his lap alone without the moral support of his sister nearby.

After discussing naughty vs nice and how good of a year they have had, Santa listened carefully to their wishes and dreams of toys for Christmas.

I love that he never promises to bring them things.  He only says he will see what he can do for them.

Santa really made a believer of Grace when he mentioned one of the teachers at her school by name.  She had on her school shirt which I am sure prompted the comment.
Grace was amazed though that he knew where she went to school and who worked there.

After we left Santa, we had our traditional Christmastime dose of Chinese food at the food court.
These kids can pack away some orange chicken and egg rolls I tell you!!

Then we finished the evening by picking out our angels from the Salvation Army Angel Tree and doing our shopping for our angels.

It has been a busy evening, but we got a lot done!!

Goodnight!

Total Love

Grant and I spent the afternoon yesterday talking about Christmas and drawing pictures of things we talked about. While we were talking I scratched out this picture.  I apologize for making you look at the product of my poor drawing abilities.  I was never lucky enough to study art with Norman Howell in high school.

The ONLY reason I would show the picture above is to let you see the picture Grant was drawing at the same time.

I think his is pretty great.
I'm probably biased.

Then to make my day even better he drew me this picture.

It says...."I love you mom"

Just when I didn't think I could be any happier than I already was,
Grant handed me this picture.

It says...."I totally love you mom."

I totally love you too, Grant!

The Little Drummer Boy

Grant enjoyed a balmy 40 degree afternoon this week playing outside.
You know it was cold because he bothered to even put a coat ON.
Notice though the lack of shirt, jeans or shoes.

A gentleman had been to his school one day this week playing drums for the kids.

The man's  "drums"  were all made from repurposed junk according to Grant.

So not to be outdone, Grant made his own repurposed drum set from things in the garage.

When his newly created drum set needed a crash cymbal, we had to get a bit more creative.

Out came Mom's lid to her dutch oven.

Let the music commence!!!!!!!

He's still playing his drum set today.

Maybe there's another musician in the family.

Hmmmmm.
