Halloween and Hot Water

Pumpkin carving

The task was only half as messy this year.
For the first time, John and Emily weren't here to share in the fun.

Finished masterpieces

Though he is unidentifiable as my son,
this is Grant ready to go trick-or-treating
 as the Grim Reaper.

His scariness was
balanced by Grace's angelic presence.

And for the first time in eighteen years
David and I enjoyed an evening sitting on the front porch
handing out candy.
Grace and Grant spent the evening with friends
roaming the streets and gathering candy
with no adult supervision.

Question of the Day:

What is one to do when the water heater springs a leak
leaving no option but cold showers?

Answer:
Check in to a hotel and swim in the heated pool!

Grace and Grant wish our hot water heater would die regularly. Because we had no hot water over the weekend, we spent Saturday night in a hotel.  They swam and played in the hot tub for most of the afternoon and evening...much to their delight.

And by Monday we had a new water heater and were back in the business of showering at home.
Thankfully.

Happy Wednesday!!
