Catching Up - Again!!!!!!!!!!!

So once again we are home and I am trying to catch up.  That's life.  Right?

All or part of the Shupe clan has been at the farm the past nine days tending to our newest zoo member.  Not much else has been getting done around here.

The baby is doing well now. 

I noticed my picture from last Sunday did not come through on the blog.  Sorry for that.  I will try again.

There....hope it worked this time.

I will post more recent pictures when I get some downloaded.





Right now I have to work on getting things ready for school.  Most of the Shupe troop start back to school on Tuesday this week.  We've got some school things to finalize along with trying to have a little fun on the last official day of summer vacation.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HAVE AN UNPLANNED PREGNANCY

We are not having another little Shupe.

But let me tell you a little story.

Yesterday,which was saturday, we came to the farm to ride horses.

David and i went to saddle up two horses to start the day.

We were certainly surprised to see our herd had increased by one.

Bella, our buckskin mare was standing guard over a foal we estimated to be less than twenty-four hours old.

Long story short....it wasn't even her foal.  She stole it from Juliette who now has staunchly rejected the baby because she was not allowed to bond with it thanks to bella's interference.

So here is what we know so far.

Bella wants to be a mother, but she's not.

Juliette doesn't want to be a mother, but she is.

Baby horse is a filly.

She wants a mother that takes care of her.

We are working around the clock and diligently to do the following....

Convince bella she's not a mom.

Persuade juliette she is a mom.

Find baby horse a mom that will feed her.

Find the humor in all of this because life is too short to be bothered by unexpected bumps in the road (or babies in the pasture).

We really needed one more thing to do.

Really.

Sorry for the bad typing. 
I'm posting from my ipad since i'm playing nursemaid at the farm.

Even Rip Van Winkle finally woke up and got to work!

Yes, I know it seems like this blog has been very Rip Van Winkle-ish the past month.

Contrary to how it appears, we have been busy.

It seems all I do anymore is pack to leave, leave, get home, unpack, catch up, pack to leave, leave, get home........

you get the idea.

Here is what Grant has been up to the past month.........

HE IS A READER NOW!!!

CONGRATULATIONS, GRANT!!!

He can read lots of Dr. Seuss books.

He can read them in a car.  He can read them in a boat.

He can read them in the dark and he can read them with a goat.

Sorry about that.  I'll stop now.

He has made it his mission this summer to read a set of reading primer books that I bought when Grace was in kindergarten.

He has now read all forty of them......

which is great.....

except for one little detail.

That exact set of books is what he will be using to 'learn to read' in kindergarten this fall.

I wonder what they will do when they find out he can already read all of them.

No matter what happens at school,

we are proud of him.

and I am glad to be back to blogging!

Okay then...

I have not quit blogging.  Sorry grandpa and grandmas and others for the lack of updates the past several weeks.

I can't seem to keep the family at home long enough to do anything except unpack, do laundry and pack so we can leave again!

I think we've been home roughly seven days since July 15th. 

I hope our running is through for a while.  I have a truck load of pictures to post at some point this week.  Hopefully I will get started on them tomorrow!
