Skating and Trees

Almost every month of the school year the PTA hosts a family night at the skating rink near the school.  We go to as many of the skating parties as we can.

When the DJ announces "It's time to dance!", the kids run to take their skates off because they don't Hokey very well on wheels.

 

 

Once the dancing is done, the skates go back on.

 

 

 

Admission is free for the entire family.  We only have to pay skate rental for those interested.

John likes to go because many of his friends still have younger siblings at the elementary school too. He has a mini class reunion of sorts with his old buddies.

I won't stop until you smile for me.

 

I haven't convinced him yet that it is okay to smile with braces on.

This is all I get right now.

 

He goes in January 10 to have surgery done on his jaw.  Surgery is supposed to cut the time of wearing braces by more than half. 

 

Grant and Grace are both getting pretty good at making it around the rink on their own.

Grace didn't have any clean so she borrowed Emily's t-shirt.

Grant was dragging the tree backward, so Grace was giving him directions.

Love their ability to work together.

 

 

 

 

We purchased a big tree to put in the living room before leaving for Thanksgiving.

We went back to the fruit market to pick it up Friday after Thanksgiving.

 

They had sold it again to someone else!!

 

Now there's a good way to keep your business in the black,

well, until disgruntled customers stop buying from you.

now if those darn elves would get busy wrapping gifts I would be all set

 

Probably not these two though.

Words Of Wisdom From The Trenches

When looking for your missing cat.....

don't overlook the cabinet where you store old yearbooks,

because, you know, that is an obvious place to find a cat.












When hiring small elves to decorate your Christmas tree...

buy a shorter tree.

When untangling hooks for the elves to use on your Christmas tree.....

wine helps.  It does not help untangle the hooks, but it helps just the same.

Just sayin'.

Blogcation

I have created a new word.

blog·ca·tion

/veɪˈkeɪʃən, və-/ Show Spelled [blog-kay-shuhn]   noun

 

1. a period of suspension of work, study, or other activity, usually used for rest, recreation, or travel; recess or holiday  

 

2. a part of the year, when life gets so hectic blogging becomes a distant memory

 

3. freedom or release from duty, business, or activity (this mostly never occurs when performing the duties of a mother).

 

4. an act of ignoring that which you want to do in order to accomplish that which you have to do 

I created it out of necessity.  I needed a way to validate my lack of blogging. I did take a few liberties when creating the definition for my new word.  Hey, it's my blog.  I can do what I want.

So....

I have been on a blogcation.  That sounds so much better than simply saying I have been slacking at my duties.



Since I am back to my blog now.  I'll try to catch up on some of the many details of the past several days.

Ummm, later though.  Right now I have to say good-bye to John and Emily's music teacher so I can hustle Grace and Grant to swim lessons.  Oh, and John and Emily have an activity at school tonight and Grace and Grant's school is having family night at the science center as well.

Come to think of it, I think I need one more day of blogcation, but I promise I'll post something a little more substantial tomorrow.
