Jack-O-Lanterns

David and I celebrated our 25th wedding unniversary on October 26th.  I call it an unniversary because it was sort of an uncelebrated occasion.

We enjoyed a nice dinner, then headed home to spend time with Grace and Grant before their bedtime.

Once the kids were in bed, David suggested we go for a drive.
This is not at all unusual for us, so I agreed and off we went.

He surprised me though with a trip to Louisville's Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular.
Although the event has been held for five years, we had never attended before.

For three weeks each fall, Iroquois Park is host to 5,000 carved pumpkins lining a 1/4 mile walking trail.

It was amazing.

Though we could have taken pictures of amazing pumpkin carvings all night, we instead strolled the path enjoying the sights.  David did snap a few pumpkins to share with the kids.

Someone has a lot more pumpkin carving talent than the zoo crew.

The trip was a lot of fun.  I hope next year we can take the entire family to enjoy an evening looking at pumpkin carvings.

Who knows?  We might even be inspired to step up our own pumpkin carving efforts.
