Stuff and nonsense

As if.........

there isn't enough to do with Christmas coming and all, I decided to paint Grace's room

As if........

that wasn't enough, I decided that while I was at it, I would just paint Grant's too

As if..........

that didn't top off my need for insanity, I decided to paint the hideously ugly flowered wallpaper border in our bathroom and change out the towels and the towel bars and the faucets and the sink and the vanity and the shower surround and the wallpaper.

Sigh!!  Someone slap me please.

Conversation that took place in the car coming home from the mall last week.......

GRACE:  I can say my ABC's.

MOM:  Great.  Say them for me.

GRACE:  I'm going to do them backwards!!

MOM:  (not much believing in her daughter's ability to do this) OK.  I'm listening.

GRACE:  ZYXWVUTSRQPONMLKJIHGFEDCBA

MOM:  (trying to keep the car on the road while looking at daughter strapped in carseat smuggly grinning at her)  When did you learn to do that??

GRACE:  I didn't learn?  I JUST KNOWED! (ok, we'll work on the grammar, but HEY!)

Emily has been home the last two days sick.  She threw up again tonight at bedtime even after seeming so much better all day today.  I hope this is not the beginning of the Shupe domino effect.  I can see them lining up to fall sequentially throughout the Christmas holiday....aaahhhhhhh!!

Tonight we loaded up the kids including Emily who we thought was feeling better (WRONG!) and went to the Louisville Mega Cavern.  It is a new tourism feature newly opened this year.  They have opened it up so cars can drive through it and enjoy the lights and decorations they have put on display.  It was probably a thirty minute drive through it looking at the lights and listening to the Christmas music.  It was wonderful!  You can look it up online at http://www.louisvillemegacavern.com/ and see about the history of the place and the tourist features and business opportunities they currently offer.  Based on the map I was looking at online, this place is HUGE and I never even knew it existed until this spring.  The entire Louisville Zoo is above the cavern, and that covers just a tiny bit of the entire footprint of the cavern.  Amazing.
